Zelma Dorsey Kelly

Zelma Dorsey Kelly, 91, of Bessemer City passed away on January 8, 2026, at Lincolnton Rehab Center. She was born on August 2, 1934, to the late James Newton Dorsey and Nora Florence Holt Dorsey.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lonnie Lee Kelly; daughter, Vanessa Dale Kelly; and son, Rodney Dwayne Kelly.

Zelma loved to crochet and to watch hummingbirds come to eat at the feeder. She enjoyed her rose garden. She was a hairdresser for more than 37 years. Zelma retired from doing hair and was a cashier at Goodwill Industries for 7 years and retired from there in 2006.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Doug Kelly; grandchildren, Alisha Kelly Robbins (James), Eric Williams, Eli Kelly, and Morgan Lee Kelly, family friend, Susan Lineberger Robinson, niece, Vickie and Jimmy Hass; and 2 great grandchildren, Chris & Stephen Robbins.

Zelma’s graveside service will be at 3:00 pm on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Westview Garden Cemetery with Thomas Murray officiating.
