Shirley Bell Whetstine

Shirley Bell Burton Whetstine, 79, of Bessemer City passed away on April 23, 2026, at her home. She was born on February 10, 1947, to the late Benjamin Frank Burton and Iva Mae Fraley Burton.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Frank Burton and Iva Mae Burton; husband, Ray Whetstine; sister, Elizabeth Spencer

Shirley attended Reagon Wesley Church.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jimmy Hoffman; daughters, Sherel Robin Brandon (Richard), and Ronda Chandler (Brian); brother, Clyde Baldwin; sister, Betty Clark; grandchildren, Kirk Brandon, Allyson Brandon, Jarod Hoffman, Zoe Hoffman, Bethany Bord (Cody), Robert Chandler; great grandchildren, James Bord; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 pm on Wednesday, April 29,2026, at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home.

Shirley’s funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm.

Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
