It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sadie Boatright. Born on September 7, 1939, Sadie was a woman whose heartwarming, caring, and loving personality touched the lives of many. She lived a full life, one that was marked by her unwavering love for her family and her passion for the simple pleasures of life. Sadie is survived by her daughter, Eugenia Revels, her grandchildren, Jessica Leonhardt, Jonathan Revels, and Sarah Revels, her great grandchildren, Bryson and Aevelyn Leonhardt, her sisters, Edith Colleen (Baucom) and Emily Sue Boatright (Harris), her close and dear friends, Jerry Williams, Barbara Sosa, and Bob Oakes. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her father, William F Boatright, her mother, Gladys M Boatright, her brother, Joe Frank Boatright, her sister, Blanche Faye Boatright and Marvin Knight Sr.
In 1982, she retired from a notable career as third shift Senior Reconciler at Bank of America while raising her daughter and having given her time and efforts to serve others in her life. Retirement, however, did not slow her down. She loved to read, watch old westerns, and, above all else, spend precious time with her loved ones. Sadie’s love for life was reflected in her favorite things. She loved the music of George Jones, Elvis Presley, Hank Williams and her shows were Gunsmoke, Emeril Lagasse, and Blue Bloods.
She supported the Yankees, the Angels and Clemson Tigers with zeal. Her favorite dishes included pinto beans, cornbread, buttermilk, and collard greens with her mother’s vinegar pepper sauce-a taste that lingered in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to dine with her. Sadie’s legacy is filled with lessons of love and optimism. There’s good in everything, you must look for it she believed, a sentiment that perfectly encapsulates her positive outlook on life. She taught us all to value family above everything else. This was the cause she cared about most-the happiness and well-being of her family. Nanny will be sorely missed. Her loving memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, leaving a lasting impact that will not be forgotten.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 pm on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Whitener officiating.
Sadie’s funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm.
Interment will follow at Hollybrook Cemetery, Lincolnton, North Carolina.
