Roxe Elizabeth Althea Summey

Roxe Elizabeth Althea Darby Summey, 71, of Bessemer City, passed into the arms of Jesus on September 10, 2026. She was born in Pelzer, South Carolina, on November 1, 1954, to Horace and Edna Darby. Roxe worked at Parkdale Mill as a spinner and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and woman of faith. 

Roxe loved her family dearly and cherished the time she spent with those she loved. Her faith in Jesus was an important part of her life, and she found comfort and joy in her relationship with the Lord. She also loved the simple blessings of home and garden, taking pleasure in planting and growing things and watching them flourish.

Roxe was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Edna Darby; her brother, Danny Darby; and her grandson, Christopher.

She leaves behind her son, John Summey; her daughter, Kellie Summey; and her granddaughter, Harley Leonhardt, who will carry her memory in their hearts.

Roxe has gone home to be with the Lord, where she is reunited with those who went before her and rests in the loving arms of Jesus. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that this is not goodbye, but a temporary farewell until they meet again.

A visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., Monday, September 14, 2026, at Sisk Butler Funeral Home, 730 Gastonia Hwy., Bessemer City, NC 28016. Private graveside services will be held for the family.
