Roger William Brackett, Sr

Roger William Brackett, Sr., 86, of Charlotte passed away on June 21, 2026, at home. He was born on January 1, 1940, to the late Ross Otis Brackett and Lucy Eldridge Brackett.

He is preceded in death by his parents; children’s mother, Patricia Moore Brackett; 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

He was a wonderful husband, devoted father, caring brother, proud uncle, and a friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Known for his quick wit and warm spirit, his sense of humor was one of the most memorable and cherished parts of his personality, bringing laughter and light to countless moments shared with family and friends.

He truly loved life and embraced it with an adventurous heart. Whether gathering with loved ones for lively get-togethers or simply enjoying meaningful fellowship with family, he found great joy in being surrounded by those he loved. Nothing made him happier than time spent at the beach, where he could relax, laugh, and do what he loved most—shag dancing, a pastime that reflected both his vibrant personality and love for simple pleasures.

His faith was an important part of his life, and he dedicated many years to serving as a youth leader at his home church, First Wesleyan in Gastonia. Through his guidance and compassion, he touched the lives of many young people, leaving a legacy of encouragement, faith, and kindness.

He retired from Carolina Freight after years of dedicated service, carrying with him the respect and friendships he built along the way. He shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, married for 30 years and together for 38 - building a partnership rooted in love, resilience, and deep companionship.

He will be remembered for his laughter, his love of life, and the genuine way he cared for others. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Kathy Brackett; sons, Roger Brackett, Jr, Ryan Brackett (Cyndi), and Ricky Brackett (Robin); daughter, Crystal Dowell; 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
