Ralph Edward Jolley

Ralph Edward Jolley, 77, passed away unexpectedly on September 15, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and countless memories that will be treasured for years to come.

Born April 11, 1949, Ralph was the son of the late Edward Jolley and Hazel Conner Jolley. He was a graduate of Bessemer City High School. Following high school, Ralph proudly served in the United States Marine Corps 1969, as a Lance Corporal and combat engineer. He served for 13 months, often on the front lines of Vietnam alongside the other 21 Marines in his platoon.

His military service profoundly shaped the remainder of his life. He carried with him the lessons of loyalty, commitment to others, and love for his country. Those qualities could be seen in the way he lived and in the way he cared for the people around him.

Ralph loved the outdoors and hunting, and he was an avid fisherman. Some of his fondest memories were made fishing around the local carp ponds with his friends. He treasured those simple times spent outdoors, enjoying good company and making memories.

Generosity was another defining part of Ralph's life. He never forgot those who had helped him, cared for him, or stood beside him. When someone showed him kindness or loyalty, Ralph remembered it—and whenever he had the opportunity, he found a way to return that kindness. Although he considered himself a simple man, he had an eye for nice gifts and genuinely enjoyed finding special things to give to his friends and family.

Above all, Ralph loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Ronald Jolley. He is survived by his younger brother, Charles Donald “Don” Jolley, with whom he shared a close and meaningful bond.

Ralph leaves behind his only daughter, Brooke Jolley Harris, and her husband, Troy Harvey Harris, along with his beloved granddaughters, Finley Elizabeth Harris and Madison Baxter Harris. Being a father and grandfather brought Ralph tremendous pride and joy.

He is also survived by his nieces, Heather and Hannah, and their families, who held a special place in his heart.

Ralph’s sudden passing leaves an emptiness that words cannot fully express. His family will miss the conversations, laughter, stories, and everyday moments they shared with him. Yet, alongside the grief is a deep gratitude for the years they were given with Ralph and for the memories that will remain with them forever.

His family was his greatest treasure. Though he is deeply missed, the love he gave so freely will live on in the lives of his family and in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

He was deeply loved, and he will never be forgotten.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 am on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home, 730 Gastonia Hwy., Bessemer City, NC 28016. 

Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am, in the chapel with Dr. Stephen Brackeen officiating. Interment will be in Westview Garden Cemetery with military honors.
