Patricia Stinnett Campbell of Bessemer City, NC passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby. Born on September 26, 1938, she dedicated her life to her family and community.
Pat graduated from Lenior-Rhyne, then Appalachian State University with a master’s degree in education. She taught fifth-grade students at West School and then Central School in her hometown of Bessemer City for many years, as well as at West Point, during her husband’s assignment there. She was also a fixture at the Bessemer City - Kings Mountain Drive-In throughout much of her life, always welcoming movie-goers with her kind smile.
In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family and reading historical fiction. Her interest in history also led her to join the daughters of the American Revolution, as she discovered more and more about her ancestors’ lives.
Pat is predeceased by her father Roy Gay Stinnett and her mother Mozelle Bradshaw Stinnett; her husband Bill Campbell; her sister Dorothy Stinnett; and her brothers Gay, Bill, and Ronnie Stinnett. She is survived by her son Phil Campbell and his wife Vickie; her grandson Matthew Campbell and his wife Kyrie; her granddaughter Emily Campbell; and her two great-granddaughters Rayna and Tatum Campbell; as well as by her brother Ricky Stinnett and wife Diane; her sisters Vickie Strell and Gaynelle Stinnett; her sister-in-law Muriel Cline; and many cousins, nieces and nephews—all of whom will miss her dearly.
A funeral service to honor Pat’s life will be held at First Baptist Church of Kings Mountain on Saturday, November 29. Gathering of friends from 10:00 am until 10:45 am with the funeral at 11:00 am officiated by Dr. John (Chip) Sloan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library or similar organizations to support efforts to instill a love of reading and learning in the younger generations.
