Melba Page May Kiser, age 80, of Bessemer City, left this world for her heavenly home on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born March 15, 1944, in Burlington, NC, to the late Wallace Page May, Jr. and Doris Melba Waynick May. Melba was an elder and pianist at the First Presbyterian Church of Bessemer City, where she attended for over 40 years. She was deeply involved in the community, particularly in addressing local health care needs. As a medical assistant, she worked alongside her late husband, Dr. Henry Lester Kiser Jr., who operated his own general practice for 25 years. Melba was honored as Citizen of the Year and served on the Image Committee. She was also very engaged with the Community Garden and found joy in working outdoors, tending to the garden and flowers. Melba brought light to the world through her care for her family and her community. She will be greatly missed but will forever remain in our hearts.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sister, Lucy “Suzy” Suzanne May.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children Michael Kiser (Christinia “Dawn”) and Elizabeth Page Kiser; sister Cynthia “Cindy” Stephens; brother-in-law Earl Scott; nieces and nephews Matthew Stephens, Aaron Stephens (Ashleigh), Leslie Stephens, and Samantha Bolick (Cassen); along with many other family and friends that loved her dearly.
The family will hold private services to honor the life of Mrs. Melba. Memorials may be sent to the St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
