Mary Evelyn Wynn, 78, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away unexpectedly, August 28, 2026, in Lincolnton, NC. She was born on June 24, 1948, in Cleveland County, NC, the daughter of the late Ralph Monroe Chitwood and Mary Black Chitwood.
Mary could never meet a stranger; she could instantly have a conversation with anyone. She often played Bingo, filled with excitement to fill the card and win the prize. Mary also had a passion for reading; but reading was not only for her enjoyment but for her grandchildren. She loved to read out loud to them, bringing the stories to life and joy to her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her three sons, Samuel "Buddy" Wynn (Sara), Robert E. Wynn, Sr. (Brandy) and Jack Lail (Betty); six grandchildren, Jennifer Lail, Scott Dean Lail, Taylor Louise Wynn, Brandon Lee Wynn, Robert E. Wynn, Jr. and Aydan Wynn; seven great grandchildren, Adalynn Wynn, Madalynn Wynn, Maximus Lail, Hannah Lail, Parker Wynn, Cheyenne Spencer and Joseph Spencer.
Mary is predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Robert Lee Wynn; her parents; two sisters, Judy Beaver and Barbara Jackson; three brothers, Gettis Chitwood, Roy Lee Chitwood and Ralph James Chitwood.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am -10:45 am, Friday, September 4, 2026, at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home, 730 Gastonia Hwy, Bessemer City, NC.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, September 4, 2026, at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home, followed by the burial in Westview Memorial Park. Services will be conducted by Chaplain Chris Hensley.
Pallbearers will be, Robert E. Wynn, Sr., Robert E. Wynn, Jr., Brandon Wynn, Aydan Wynn, Jackie Lail and Scott Lail.
Mary Evelyn Wynn will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
