Mary Louise Albright Canipe, 94, of Bessemer City passed away on January 12, 2026, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. She was born on August 27, 1931, to the late Walter A. Albright and Mary Etta Beam Albright
She is preceded in death by her husband,Thomas H. Canipe; brothers, Alvoid, Clayton, Ralph, Ray, Clyde Albright; sisters, Emma, Adams, Edith Rockholt, and Twin Martha Wylie.
Mary was a loving wife, mother, and maw maw. Most important she was a Christian and loved the Lord. She never hesitated to tell people, even strangers that Jesus loved them. She was known to sing the song; Jesus Loves You to her children and grandchildren and she would add I do too.
She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Bessemer City for more than 50 years. She served the Lord there alongside of her husband, Tom in numerous roles as Sunday School Director, Sunday School Teacher, and Vacation Bible School worker.
Mary graduated from Bessemer City High School, where she was a star basketball player. She was employed by Jones Construction as a secretary, Southern Bell, Gaston Memorial Hospital and retired from Gaston County Schools. She was an advocate for education and children.
Those left to cherish her memory include daughters, Susan Carpenter (Donnie), Mary Lou Baxter (Max), and Nancy Baker (Allen); grandchildren, Krista Kiser (Patrick), Dr. Carrie Carpenter Parker (Chad), Erin Morehead (Dustin), Andrew Baxter (Jessica), Mary Baker, and Melissa Baker; great grandchildren, Jack Kiser, Matthew Kiser, Ella Kiser, Daxter Morehead, Addyson Morehead, Max Baxter, III, Tucker Baxter, and Rudy Baxter; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30 pm on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home.
Mary’s funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Friday, January 16, 2026, at First Baptist Church, Bessemer City with Reverend Jim Loftis officiating. She will lie in state one hour before the service begins.
Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
