LUKE  ALFORD



James Luther "Luke" Alford, 95, of Gastonia,  passed from this life into eternity on May 11, 2012, at the Kings Mountain Hospice House.  He was born June 6, 1916 in McColl, SC, to the late James L. and Mary Cannon Alford.



Luke was a U. S. Army veteran who served his country in World War II.  He was retired from Firestone Textiles.  Luke enjoyed fishing and gardening.  The family wishes to thank the staff of Summit Place, Kings Mountain and Kings Mountain Hospice for their care and concern during the stay with them.  A very special thanks to Susan G. Maney for the love and special care she gave to Luke.



Luke is survived by son, Jerry Alford and wife Adora; brother, Thurman Alford and wife Agnes; grandchildren, Heather Mitchell, Ray Alford and Darrell Alford; 5 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Hodge Alford; brother Milton Alford and sister Ola Austin.



His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home, Bessemer City, with Rev. Wes Brown officiating.

Visitation will be from 12:30-2:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with military rites by the Bessemer City  American Legion Post 243 Honor Guard.



In lieu of flowers, memorials/donations may be made to Kings Mountain Hospice House, 321 Kings Mountain Blvd., Kings Mountain, NC  28086
