Obituary

Linda Faye Stewart, 84, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, at Sherrill Ford Hospice House. Born on January 5, 1942, in Gaston County, North Carolina, Linda was the daughter to the late Homer Gilleland and Ruth Kiser Gilleland.

Throughout her 84 years, she touched many lives with her gentle presence and compassionate heart. She strived to take care of her family and always looked forward to the holidays when she could cook for everyone. Linda even cared for the neighborhood children by having sweet tea ready for them. Linda was not only a great cook but a gardener too; as she loved spending time caring for her flowers.

Linda, a loving mother, is survived by her daughters, Sherry Dellinger and Donna Mitchem, and her son Forest Stewart, Jr.; Linda’s legacy continues through her many grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and her dear friend, Donna McDonald, whose companionship brought her much comfort and joy.

Linda was a devoted wife to her beloved late husband, Forest "Clayton" Stewart, Sr., whose memory she cherished throughout her life. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Stewart, as well her brothers, Edward Gilleland and Gary Gilleland.

Family will receive friends from, 12:00 to 12:45 PM, Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home, 730 Gastonia Hwy, Bessemer City, NC.

A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at the Sisk-Butler Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be held at Westview Gardens, 1123 Edgewood Rd, Bessemer City, NC. Services will be conducted by Reverend Mike Rice.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Mitchell, Nick Mitchell, Brandon Dockery, Kendol Griffin, Reid Thomas and Preston Yoakum. Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Mitchem and Bobby Dellinger.

Through life’s seasons, Linda found strength and love she both gave and received. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
