Larry Kenneth Stillwell

Larry Kenneth Stillwell of Gastonia passed away October 5, 2026, in Dallas, NC after a long illness, he was 85. Larry was born on December 23, 1940, in Belmont, NC, son to the late Woodrow Stillwell and Helen Davis Stillwell.

Larry was a loving husband, father, son, uncle, and friend who touched the lives of many. Known affectionately as “Uncle Larry,” he was a kind and generous man who treated everyone with love and respect.

Larry was a hardworking man who sometimes held as many as three jobs at once. He enjoyed building, gardening, and outdoor adventures, and he especially loved teaching life skills and sharing those experiences with his family. He had a servant’s heart and was always willing to help others. Larry often took food to those in need and the homebound and would gladly give anyone the shirt off his back. He was a giver and a forgiver who believed in treating others with kindness

Larry was a devoted Christian who openly shared his testimony and faith with others. He and his wife were faithful members of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church for more than 30 years. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, generosity, love, and how to be a provider and caretaker. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna Goodson (Joey); grandchildren, Amanda Baxter (Teddy) and Aaron Goodson; great-grandchild, William “Will” Baxter; and family of the home, great niece April Roper and great, great-niece Zoey Armstrong. He is also survived by his brother, Gary “Dean” Stillwell (Ruby), and sisters-in-law, Delores Stillwell and Jill Stillwell.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Margaret Ledford Stillwell; his parents; and his siblings and their spouses, Joan Oates (Larry), Mike Stillwell, Woodrow “Pee Wee” Stillwell, Jr., and Becky S. Grant (Johnny).

Family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm, Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home, 730 Gastonia Hwy, Bessemer City, NC 28016.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home followed by the burial in Gaston Memorial Park. Services will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Gene Alley.
