Joseph Hubert Ball, Sr

Joseph Hubert Ball, Sr., 84, of Bessemer City passed away on May 28, 2025, at Mission Hospital, Asheville, North Carolina. He was born on April 23, 1941, to the late Will Ball and Juanita Stephenson Ball.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters, Rachel Crawford, and Brenda Thomas.

Joe was a member at Crowders Mountain Baptist Church for twenty years where he was head deacon. He served at Chestnut Ridge Volunteer Fire Department as Chief in the 80’s and 90’s. He was a farmer who loved driving his tractor, his farm animals, and working the hay fields. Joe was an amazing Godly man, husband, father, and pawpaw. He enjoyed and loved spending time with his family, camping, white water rafting and just being in nature. Joe never met a stranger. He was a jokester and always was pranking the family. He was a Braves fan and loved watching baseball games. Joseph would make sure he was at all the kid’s games and events. He will be greatly missed by all.

Ball, Jr (Lisa), and William “Marty” Ball; daughters, Shirley Ball Jackson, Linda Ball Pullen (Bryan), Barbara Ball Carroll (Robert), and Angie Goebel; brother, Jack Ball (Pat); grandchildren, Melissa Simonds (Jason), Jerry Jackson, Heather Nicole Bryant, Barbara Ball, Jamie Haygood, Jonathan Haygood (Ashley), Jason Haygood (Natasha), Bambi Jenkins (Tony), Jordan Ball (Shyanne), Joshua Ball, Jesse Ball, David Hester (Kenna), Michael Wilson (LaDonna), Jessica Pullen, Erica Pullen, McKenzie Pullen, Cody Hensley (Ashley), Hunter Carroll, Amber Carroll (Jay), Megan Hall (Alex), and Matthew Grigg (Carla), 35 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
