Johnny Barnett Hyatt 73, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at home. He was born on October 24, 1943 to the late John Hyatt and Annie Mae Horne.

Johnny attended Gastonia High School and retired from Wix Corporation after 28 years of service. He also served with the Gaston County Police Force and Ranlo Police Force. He was a former recreation umpire with the City of Gastonia. Johnny was a longtime member of Bessemer City First Wesleyan Church where he played on the church softball team. He loved his family and his dog "Daffy".

Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife of 48 years, Maxine Clark Hyatt; daughter Paula Stokes and husband Bill; son Jimmy Hyatt and wife Colleen; sister Brenda Snead; sister-in-law Judy Clark Hamilton; 2 grandsons; 4 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bessemer City First Wesleyan Church.

His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Bessemer City First Wesleyan Church with Rev. Wes Brown, Rev. Mark Tolan and Mr. Chandler Ragsdale officiating.

Interment will follow at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City.

Memorials may be made to First Wesleyan Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 682, Bessemer City, NC 28016.
