John William "Johnny" Murray, Sr., 80, passed away peacefully at home on Friday October 12, 2018. He was born September 6, 1938 in Gaston County to the late William Kay and Florence Sellers Elmore Murray.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Kathy Hamrick; sisters, Frances Murray Bowen, Marge Murray.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Betty Griffin Murray; son Dave Murray, Sr. and Maresha, Wayne Murray, Bruce Murray and Rhonda, John Murray, Jr. and Emily; daughters Tasha Murray and Bobby Fowler, Christian Murray and Philip Rumfelt; sisters, Lillie Costner and husband Jack, Janie Black, Carol Wilson and husband Glenn; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
