JOHN E. KISER, SR.



John Earnie Kiser, Sr., 87, of Bessemer City, passed away May 4, 2012, at Gaston Memorial Hospital. He was born August 23, 1924 in Gaston County to the late Ransom Grier and Ida Elizabeth Jackson Kiser.



John served in the Armed Forces of the United States Coast Guard. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bessemer City and was formerly a member of Pisgah ARP Church for 42 years. John worked at Sunrise Dairy for 11 years and at Lithium Corporation in the engineering department for 12 years. John was a national board certified insurance inspector. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering. The last several years of his career he worked for Commercial Union Insurance Group. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Bessemer City, the Eastern Star, Shriners and the Jaycee's. He and his wife Sarah enjoyed working on the Bessemer City Beautification Committee.



His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at First United Methodist Church, Bessemer City, with Rev. Preston Davis and Rev. Rick Lewis officiating.



Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.



Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service.



He is survived by his son, John E. Kiser, Jr. and wife Beth Ormand Kiser; brothers, Fred Kiser of Charlotte, J. B. Kiser of Charlotte, Hugh Kiser of Jacksonville, Fl.; sister, Betty K. Carpenter of Dallas; grandchildren, John Patrick Kiser and wife Krista, William Grier Kiser and wife Amy, and three great grandchildren Jack, Matthew and Ella.



He is preceded in death by wife, Sarah Wesson Kiser; brothers, Clyde Kiser, Preston Kiser, Clarence Kiser, Lewis Kiser; and sister, Pauline Kiser Clemmer.
