Jerry Wayne Bolding, Sr., 77, of Gastonia passed away on August 15, 2026, at Caromont Regional. He was born on October 13, 1948, to the late Larry Edward Bolding and Essie Elizabeth Pridemore Bolding.
Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army, after serving, he went to work and retired from Firestone Textiles in Kings Mountain. Jerry loved to sing, especially gospel songs in his church; over the years he attended Charity Independent Baptist Church in Gastonia and Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cherryville. Jerry was very passionate about fishing, and he was an avid golfer, playing several times a week. He had a caring heart, for many years he supported St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, and he dearly loved his dog, "Ned".
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Jerry Bolding, Jr. (Tonya) of Dallas, Timothy Bolding (Joann) of Cherryville, and Mark Bolding, Sr. (Jetty) of Kings Mountain; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 6 siblings, Paul Bolding (Arra), Rebecca Hawkins (Ronnie), Janet Burrell (Jim), Alice Kraft (George), Dennis Bolding and Kayrn King. Jerry also leaves behind his special friends, Gene "Pee-Wee" Morrison - fishing buddy and Jack Beavers - golfing buddy.
Jerry is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Katherine Lee Brooks Bolding; his parents; brother, Steve Bolding and his little Chihuahua, "Ned".
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm, Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home, 730 Gastonia Hwy, Bessemer City, NC 28016.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home with burial following in Gaston Memorial Park. Services will be conducted by Reverend Steve Fletcher with Military Honors by the United States Army and Gaston County Honor Guard.
