James Craig Huffstetler

James Craig Huffstetler, age 82, of Gastonia, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 6, 1942, the son of the late James Earl and Mildred Huffstetler. Throughout his career, James poured his heart into auto body work. He found great joy in the excitement of dirt track and Nascar racing. Fishing provided him a peaceful escape, where he could unwind and connect with nature. However, it was his family that brought him the deepest joy, and he treasured the countless special moments spent together. Known for his boundless generosity, James had a passion for gospel music. Now, he rejoices with his Savior, having embraced Him fully in his life before departing this world. He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Linda L. Huffstetler and great-grandson Aydan Shaw.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children Craig (Susan) Huffstetler and Susan (Curt) Lovelace; grandchildren April Roper, Elizabeth (John) Roper, Hunter (Abbie) Huffstetler, Alex Huffstetler, and Abbi Huffstetler; great-grandchildren Ryleigh Henley and Zoey Armstrong; and fiancée Cynthia M. Withers.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 12:00 noon – 1:45 pm at Sunset Forest Baptist Church in Gastonia. The funeral service to celebrate James’ life will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jeff Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Belmont. Serving as pallbearers will be Hunter Huffstetler, Alex Huffstetler, Ronnie Robinson, Alan Kern, Jake McCray, and John Bridges. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sunset Forest Baptist Church at 903 Hickory Grove Rd, Gastonia, NC 28056.
