Gary Richard Reynolds

Gary Richard Reynolds, age 78, of Bessemer City, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 19, 1946, in Gaston County, to the late Johnny Richard and Ruth Elizabeth Flowers Reynolds. Gary was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as deacon and a Sunday School teacher. He served our country with honor in the United States Navy. Gary completed his bachelor’s degree at the Medical University of South Carolina where he received his certification as a physician assistant. Gary enjoyed fishing, antique car projects, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years, Sherry Neal Reynolds; son Sidney Reynolds (Candise); daughter Haley Lewis (Michael); grandchildren Brooke Wilson (Owen), Ashley O’Donnell (Chase), Kylie Reynolds, Kaleigh Lewis, and Kaden Lewis; and two great-grandchildren Lainey Wilson and Avery Wilson.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 9:30 am – 10:45 am at First Baptist Church in Bessemer City. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Olin Byrum officiating. Burial will follow at Westview Gardens Cemetery. Military rites will be provided.
