Gary Bruce Dixon, 87, of Bessemer City passed away on February 17, 2026, at Caromont Regional. He was born on July 8, 1938, to the late Clarence Bruce Dixon and Virginia Spencer Dixon.
He is preceded in death by brother, Jan Hillman Dixon.
Gary was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church in Gaffney, South Carolina. He honorably served his country in the United States Army, retiring as a Sergeant First Class (E-7) after 20 years of dedicated service, including during the Vietnam conflict. He carried great pride in his military service and the brothers and sisters he served alongside.
Gary had a creative and talented spirit. He loved drawing and woodworking, spending many hours crafting and creating with care and precision. His hands were rarely still, and his work was a reflection of his patience and skill.
He was a very humorous gentleman who loved to laugh and make others smile. Gary truly enjoyed talking with people and had a gift for conversation. His warm personality and welcoming nature meant he never met a stranger.
Above all else, Gary was a family man. He loved his family and pets wholeheartedly and treasured every moment spent together. His kindness, laughter, strength, and big heart will live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 67 years, Evelyn Bolick Dixon; daughter, Debra Lineberger (Tommy) of Bessemer City sons, Donnie Dixon (Lisa) of Bessemer City, and Bruce “Wayne” Dixon (Lori) of Florida; brother, Ernest Rodney Dixon (Pat) of South Carolina; sister-in-law, Connie Dixon of Idaho; grandchildren, Shawn, Jennifer, Megan, Sarah, Matthew, Sierra, Katie, Seth, Cody, and Sam; 12 great grandchildren; and his fur baby, Abby.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 2:45 pm on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home.
