Eugene Alexander Froneberger, Jr

Eugene “Al” Alexander Froneberger, Jr of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, formerly of Bessemer City, North Carolina – passed away on August 20, 2025.

Al was born on July 20, 1947, in Gastonia, North Carolina. He was the beloved son of Gene and Pansy Froneberger, both of whom preceded him in death.

He graduated from Bessemer City High School in 1965 and went on to earn a degree in Business and Economics from Lenoir Rhyne College in 1969. He later received his Master’s degree in Education from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte.

Al dedicated his life to education, serving the students of Gaston County as both a teacher and administrator at Bessemer City High School, Ashbrook High School, and Forestview High School.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Paneen Edwards Froneberger, his daughter and, Marcy Little; and his son, John Alex Froneberger, and John’s wife, Daphne Froneberger. He was a proud grandfather to Kaity Little and Xander Little, children of Marcy and Bobby Little, and great-grandfather to Gavin, son of Xander and his fiancée, Nicole Benes.

Al was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy F. McBride, and is survived by her husband, Guy McBride; their daughter, Lori Muse, and her husband, Tim Muse; and their son, Tyler Muse.

And of course, he will be missed by Kevin, Kaity’s beloved son (dog) and Al’s great grandpup and sidekick.

A Celebration of Life honoring Al will take place at Christ the King Church at a future date; details will be shard once arrangements are finalized.
