Edward Allen Young, Sr.

Edward Allen “Red” Young, Sr., 77, of Bessemer City, passed away at Caromont Regional on March 12, 2025. He was born on December 23, 1947, in Gaston County, to the late Millard Nathaniel Young and Lillie Elizabeth Hook Young.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Larry Young.

Most people knew him as ‘Red’. He loved to play golf, go fishing, RVing, farming cows, hunting, and he kept honeybees. He enjoyed motorcycles and riding the golf cart around town. Red loved to talk, and he enjoyed a good conversation. He never met a stranger. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Family members left to cherish his memories include his wife, Laura Greene Young; son, Edward Allen Young, Jr. (Cynthia); daughter, Melanie Villalobos (Kenher); brother, Sonny Young (Diane); sisters, Janet Goin, Judy Lazenby (David); sister-in-law, LouAnn Greene (George); grandchildren, Edward Allen Young III (Angel), Sophia Michelle Young; great grandchildren, Aerabella Young, and Grayson Young; numerous nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be Friday, March 14, 2025, at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home at 3:00 pm with Pastor Dennis Gomez officiating. The family will receive friends after the funeral service until 5:00 pm.
