Earl Wayne Worcester

Reverend Earl Wayne Worcester, 90, of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, stepped peacefully into the arms of Jesus on August 6, 2026. Born January 29, 1936, in Bangor, Maine, Wayne lived a life overflowing with faith, family, humor, and service — a life that lit up every room, every ballfield, and every heart he touched.

Wayne proudly served eight years in the United States Army, where he became a skilled boxer. After returning home, fate found him at a local street dance — where he met the love of his life and swept her off her feet, beginning a 61‑year love story marked by devotion, laughter, and unwavering partnership. Together they raised three children and built a family rooted in tradition, faith, and deep love.

A prayer warrior and servant‑hearted leader, Wayne pastored Lighthouse Ministries in Kings Mountain for five years and continued serving in ministry until the very day The Lord called him home.

Wayne was also a beloved figure in the Kings Mountain community. For more than 30 years he played, coached and umpired at Kings Mountain Parks & Recreation. Wayne was a passionate Pittsburg Steeler Fan and loved having a fishing rod in his hand!

At home, Wayne was known for his legendary outdoor Christmas lights, a tradition that made him locally famous and brought joy to neighbors year after year.

Above all, Wayne loved Jesus, family, and tradition. He cherished his role and left a beautiful legacy. Wayne is survived by Troy Worcester (Renee), Tammy Postell (Tim) Rodney Ruff, 16 grandchildren, 36 great‑grandchildren, and 1 great‑great‑grandchild.

Wayne is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Ann Worcester, his daughter Regina Ruff , his parents Carroll and Bessie Worcester and numerous brothers and sisters. He leaves behind a family who will forever carry his light, his laughter, and his faith.

Wayne lived boldly, loved deeply, and served joyfully. His legacy shines in every life he touched — in every prayer he prayed, every child he coached, every Christmas light he hung, and every soul he pointed toward Jesus. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 13, 2026 and from 11:00 to 11:45 am on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home.

Earl's funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm with Reverend Tim Postell officiating.

Interment will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
