Duwane Russell Ellis

Duwane Russell Ellis, Sr., age 62, of Bessemer City passed away after a courageous battle at home on Saturday, December 7, 2024. Duwane was born on April 2, 1962, in Rosiclare, IL. Throughout his career, he worked as a regional manager in the industrial sector. Even after retirement and following his cancer diagnosis, he continued to work and remained active. Duwane was an avid hunter who cherished the thrill of the hunt. He was always willing to help others and had a knack for finding solutions. His vibrant personality could light up any room he entered. He loved to share stories and talk, sometimes repeating them, making the memories even more special. Duwane loved being a grandpa and was devoted and loyal as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. He will be greatly missed but will forever hold a place in our hearts.

He is preceded in death by his father Duward Ellis and brother Dean Ellis.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 30 years Tammy Sue Vann Ellis; mother Polly Ellis; his sons Duwane Ellis, Jr. (Alex), Donald McGlothlin (Jasmine), and Oscar Taveras (Sendy); daughters Courtney Hall (Seth), Chelsea Lyons (Brett), and Alexis McGlothlin; brother Jack Schmidt; grandchildren Mia, Emma, Gus, Charlotte, Elena, Cole, Leighton, Lilly, and Adeline due in February 2025; nieces Paula Williams and Jamie Schmidt; along with many other friends and family that loved him dearly.

There are no formal funeral arrangements planned at this time. Inurnment will be with the family.
