Christine "Chris" Evelyn Williams

Christine “Chris” Evelyn Croft Williams, age 90, of Bessemer City, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at her residence after a courageous two-year battle. She was born on January 29, 1935, the daughter of the late Alfred Croft, Sr. and Bessie Bell Croft. Chris attended Holland Memorial Baptist Church and always appreciated God’s creation, giving Him credit for it. She loved visiting the mountains and picking wildflowers. A true cowgirl at heart, Chris enjoyed wearing her western outfits. Her greatest fulfillment came from taking care of and providing for her family. She was an amazing woman— a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to all. Known for her even temperament, Chris also enjoyed decorating and doing crafts.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter Alene Neal; brothers Albert and Max Croft; and sister IvaLee Owns.

Those left to cherish Chris’ memory includes her husband of fifty-two years Jerry Williams; daughter Lois Neal (Doyle); brother Alfred Croft, Jr.; sisters Mary Ruth Wright (James) and Ella Baker (Jeff); sister-in-law Ruth Purser; grandchildren Michael McAbee, Sr., Timmy McAbee, Shane Shoup, Christopher Lawson, and Crystal Dawn Abernathy; great-grandson Will Neal; great-great grandchildren Michael McAbee, Jr. and Cam Shoup; along with a numerous number of nieces, nephews, and friends that loved her dearly.

In honor of Chris’ wishes and the family. Her funeral services will be private for the family only to celebrate Chris’ life. Burial will be held later at Bessemer City Cemetery.
