Alan Wayne Lancaster, age 76, of Bessemer City, originally from Concord passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, March 1, 2025. He was born on September 20, 1948, the son of the late William Henry and Evelyn Margaret Brock Lancaster.

Alan honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, including time in the Old Guard serving families of fallen soldiers in Arlington Cemetery. It was shortly after his return home that he met the love of his life, Kathy June Phillips, whom he married in 1971. They moved to Bessemer City in 1972 and began their life together, putting down roots and raising a family. During that time, Alan served as a North Carolina Highway Patrolman in Gaston County for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1999. His family and work were his passion, but it all paled in comparison to the love and dedication he shared with his late wife, Kathy, of 53 years. Alan’s love for his family and friends shown through to all who knew him. He also enjoyed woodworking and spending his free time at the Pancake House drinking coffee.

Along with his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his brother Larry Lancaster; and sisters Vickie Martin, Shirley Hatchcock, and Judy Talbert.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children Timothy (Lisa) Lancaster of Dallas, NC and Bradley (Heather) Lancaster of Farmville, NC; sister Brenda Lewis (Rick); grandchildren Elizabeth (Andrew) Hullender, Katilan Smith, Ariel (Alan) Thompson, Raislyn Lancaster, and Kylen Lancaster; great-grandchildren Riley Hullender, Aekley Postell, Avalyn Thompson, Braylon Holden, Alyssa Holden, Morgan Smith, and Logan Smith.
